Journal of Law and Intellectual Property Rights intends to provide in depth coverage to all international and comparative aspects of intellectual property law, including trade, investment, technology, management and enforcement of IP, additionally giving readers associate insight into unnoted areas of the law. It has long served as the definitive publication for issues relating to intellectual property in trade and investment, with a concentration on the WTO and TRIPS (the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights). The magazine is looking to broaden its focus by examining the obstacles that technology advancements to IP present. The journal wants to present a comprehensive picture of intellectual property, including cutting-edge methods for licensing and protection. It also encourages submissions in less-trodden areas of law and IPR.
Starting in 2024, this publication focused on the value of protecting intellectual property rights as well as many facets of law and legal study. The aim of the journal is two-fold: firstly, to enhance communication between policy makers, organizational agents, academics, and managers on the critical understanding and research on intellectual property; secondly, to promote the development of the newly cultivated research field. The journal publishes contributed/invited articles, case studies and patent reviews; technical notes on current IPR issues; literature review; world literature on IPR; national and international IPR news, book reviews and conference reports.
The editorial board has decided that JLIPR shall publish papers on the theme of:
- Intellectual Property Rights and contemporary issues across different disciplines.
- Issues relating to Biotechnology and Biodiversity Protection.
- Issues of Traditional Knowledge, Geographical Indications and Trade Secrets.
- IP litigation and Dispute resolution
- Specific theme based special issues may also be published

The Journal accepts submissions from all levels of authors including law students, professors and academics, and practicing professionals.
